Visit Hachijojima! Situated a mere ten gross furlongs (That's 52 Nautical Leagues for you old salts (290km)) due south of Tokyo, Hachijo Island rises up out of the Philippine Sea's Kuroshio Current, like a greenish, pointy-headed island-shaped thing. Flight time from Tokyo's Fabulous Haneda International Airport is three quarters of an hour, while the sea journey out of Tokyo's Takeshiba Pier on the Jewel of Tokaikisen's majestic fleet, the Salvia-Maru (or if you really lucky, the superlative Camelia-Maru), delivers passengers to the island's Sokodo Port in a leisurely eleven hours.
Hotchy Joe's Hostel is one minute's walk from Sokodo Port, three minutes walk from Hachijo's main Sokodo beach, five minutes by car from Hachijojima Airport, and directly adjacent to the bestest diving shop this side of the Rio Grande.
